Announced As Award Winner In Regional Print Competition The Printing & Imaging Association of MidAmerica has announced that Ward/Kraft, Inc., of Fort Scott, KS is an award winner in the Association's 19th Annual Graphic Excellence Awards Competition. The announcement was made at the Association's 2008 Graphic Excellence Awards Gala, with nearly 400 industry professionals in attendance. On Saturday, July 12, 2008 records manager for Guinness World Records, Kaoru Ishikawa officially announced the community of Fort Scott, KS as world record holders after hundreds of volunteers laid 40.32 miles of pennies end-to-end. The longest line of coins consisted of 3,406,234 US 1 cent coins. The event took place in the Fort Scott Middle School parking lot starting on the evening of Tuesday, July 8th and running through 3 a.m. Saturday morning. The previous record was 55.63 km (34.57 miles) set in Malaysia in 1995. This world record feat is part of a "Pennies for the Park" fundraiser that Fort Scott's Youth Activities Team has conducted over the last several months to collect money to pay for upgrades and improvements to Ellis Park. Renovations would include new batting cages, a miniature golf course, sand volleyball, a walking trail, and other improvements. Things worked out wonderfully for Jess Gaddis Tuesday evening at the Knox County Fair Market Beef Show. Gaddis and her steer, Mr. Wonderful, walked away with the Grand Champion award, besting a pool of somewhat less astounding competitors. The win was a long time coming for Gaddis, who has shown market beef steer for nine years. She finally earned the competition's highest honor in this her last year of showing. Jess Gaddis is the daughter of Amy Clark, Sales Manger for the Ohio Sales Team.
