Quick$hots Unit Sets... have been around much longer than most of us, and even though many business forms as a whole are declining, unit set sales are remaining stable and in some markets growing. The other unique thing is that profits are now reportedly better than in past years. Much of this has to do with the fact that some applications still lean to unit set constructions. Added to that are all of the technologies that can be combined with unit set constructions such as affixed labels, pocket forms, integrated labels, bar coding, poly patch reinforcing, foil stamping and jumbo numbering. Deposit tickets and checks still require MICR numbering (which Ward/Kraft can do inline by the way) as do some gift certificates. Certificates, titles and other value documents are also great applications for foil stamping, for both pizzazz and document security. Jumbo numbering can be added for tag applications as well as bar coding. Tags often need reinforcing patches. This can be done using fiber patching or poly reinforcing. These applications also give way to offer Tyvek built into the construction for permanent marking systems. All of which may require string or wire ties for affixing. Unit Sets can still be consistent and profitable reorder for you. One other thing to keep in mind when you sell a unit set...determine if your application can become a vertical market for you thus increasing your profits by combined orders. I knew a distributor who sold a traffic ticket to a local law enforcement agency....then another....then another. He now deals with over 20 sheriff, city and highway patrol agencies. Is there potential in this area? Well there are 622 law enforcement agencies in the state of Kansas alone, you do the math. Click here to request Unit Set samples! Roger Buck, CDC |
